• Bluetooth PTT for my Trike

For a too-windy/rainy/hot-to-fly-day project, I purchased two Bluetooth Push-To-Talk (BT-PTT) buttons to replace the wired PTT’s on my trike’s control and instructor bars. I designed a Radio PTT Interface (BT-RPI) with Bluetooth connectivity to pair up with a specific BT-PTT, a small relay board, coded some software to handle the BT-PTT protocol and stuck it in a small 3d printed box. The BT-RPI is powered by the trike’s 12V accessory jack via a USB power adapter. The BT-PTT uses a coin cell battery which lasted for almost 20 hours of flying (estimated 30-40 minutes of actual talk time) over the last few months – some of it in cold weather with heavy gloves.
