GoPro Audio Not Recording
Posted by Tim on June 16, 2023 at 4:31 pmI recently bought a GoPro Hero 9. I am using it in the Media Mod case. I was told I needed the GoPro External Mic Adapter. I ordered the NFlightCam Audio cord with Adapter and still nothing. I had tried both the auxiliary ports to the right and the NFlight Cable plugs directly into the headset port and then your headset into it and still nothing. It records engine noise but no audio from helmet or radio communications. Any idea what i could be missing?

Looks like I have a faulty Media Mod case? I mounted it without the case and plugged directly into the camera and it works like it is supposed too! Just ordered a replacement battery door with the hole in it to accept the adapter. I have spent hours messing around with this.

I haven’t used the mod. Glad it sounds like you figured it out. NFlight owners are very helpful too. Hope it all works out.

What editing software are you guys using to do your awesome videos?
-
I am proud to say I initially taught Diane to use Final Cut Pro to edit videos. Now she is an expert on the software. It’s really easy to use and there are some short cuts I can show anyone which make the whole process very fast to slice, dice and splice footage.

Hey Tim. Hopefully you saw Larry’s post that I use Final Cut Pro (FPC).
Thankfully Larry had a way of simplifying FCP to get me started quickly. Otherwise I don’t think I would be editing today!
If you are struggling with the overwhelming amount of YouTube videos out there, then let Larry condense it for you to get you started.
After that I used YouTube to answer most my other questions, the help menu in FCP and sometimes call Apple Support for things I can’t find.
Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about FCP or anything
There is so much to learn with this program I haven’t even come close to learning it all.

So… GoPro does not provide any useful manuals. Thanks to the guys at Nflight who provided me with a bit of education. My Media Mod is not defective. GoPro adapter is not needed, but you must use the 3.5mm male plug into the Media Mod to get audio. I now get audio to my GoPro in the Media Mod Case using only 3.5mm cable. No need for the USB “C” GoPro Adapter and expensive cables. 3.5 mm male jacks to both the Media Mod and my output on the console and I finally have audio.

Is there an online tutorial for this software? (Final Cut)
-
I have not really had time yet to try it, but there does seem to be quite a few tutorials?
-
Hi Jim. There are so many Final Cut Pro (FCP) tutorials on You Tube but when I started 5 years ago Larry was able to simplify it to get me started quickly and have fun with it right away. The program is so extensive that it can seem very complicated and discouraging if you don’t get a simple version.
So if you can’t find a simplified tutorial be sure to reach out to Larry.
If you have more advanced complicated questions after that I’m happy to help if I can.
